In open Pinus edulis-Sabina osteosperma community near ridge summit on broad gently sloping area NE of deep canyon leading to Wingate cliffs above; with Cryptantha sp., Purshia stansburiana.

Forming small scapose clumps; leaves punctate glandular; rays and discs yellow; common & widespread. Quaternary wind deposited sand and silt. NAD27. 7.5' Gateway quad.
