In duff on steep streambank of deep canyon draining N facing slope, in shaded dense forest of Psuedotsuga menziesii- Betula fontinalis-Alnus incana with understory of Osmorhiza depauperata, Orthilla secunda, Arnica cordifolia, Jamesia americana...; scattered along stream with Hydrophyllum fendleri, Limnorchis stricta. Idaho Springs Formation shist and gneiss.
