Locality: United States, Colorado, Mesa, Gateway Palisade Natural Area N of Gateway between CO hwy 141 & Dolores R.; minor drainage ca. 1mi. E of Mesa Co road 4.2 on W side of the Palisade.

Habitat: Above narrow low-walled canyon in relatively barren loose rocky maroon soil at angle of repose; with Physaria acutifolia, Yucca angustisissima, Gaillardia pinnatifida, Plantago patagonica, Ephedra torreyana, Artistida purpurea. Permian Cutler Form. Several plants locally, all in fruit.
Reproductive Condition: Frt
Occurrence Remarks: Leaves shiny green, flat on ground to ascending; fruit color varies from whitish to pink purple; 7.5' Gateway quad, NAD27.
