Above narrow low-walled canyon in relatively barren loose rocky maroon soil at angle of repose; with Physaria acutifolia, Yucca angustisissima, Gaillardia pinnatifida, Plantago patagonica, Ephedra torreyana, Artistida purpurea. Permian Cutler Form. Several plants locally, all in fruit.

Leaves shiny green, flat on ground to ascending; fruit color varies from whitish to pink purple; 7.5' Gateway quad, NAD27.
