On drainage bank in partial sun in open Pinus edulis-Juniperus osteosperma community with Fraxinus anomala, Rhus aromatica, Oreocarya flava, Astragalus nuttalianus. Relatively common and widespread on slopes. Permian Cutler Formation.

7.5' Gateway quad. Nad 27. 2 rosettes; longest lvs ca 30 cm, 52-58x longer than wide, X-section plano-convex at midlength; infl. well exerted from leaf tips; outer tepals ochroleucus.... longest tepals 4.5 cm; style pale green, 2.4 cm; filaments 1.5cm.
