Well above Timberline, growing in alpine meadow on S facing slope at base of bluffs above lake, on conglomerate soils, esp. around edges of snow field. Ass: Poa alpina, Poa artica, Acomistylis rossii, Bistorta bistortoides, Mertensia, Castilleja....
