Salix purpurea L. (plant with catkins); second plant is S. exigua, det. By G. Argus, 2010. Original ID: Salix purpurea L. Winter aspect. Female plants only in this site. The winter stems are reddish, but the epidermis becomes flaky and pale, giving the stems only a temporarily glaucous appearance.
