Pioneering in an extremely drought-affected lawn. Several large clumps of rhizomatous plants not observed before this year.

Evidently this perennial plant has been here for some years, judging by the extent of the patches but has never gained ascendancy in competition w/ Poa pratensis until this extraordinary drought condition.
