Growing in rock crevices on NW-facing crest slopes of granite tors, w/ Erigeron vetensis, E. compositus, Telesonix jamesii, Artemisia frigida, & Pinus aristata. Also in sandy soil of footslopes below tors. At least 3 populations comprising several hundred plants. Populations include a small portion of individuals w/ slightly tomentose green lvs. or moderately tomentose blue-green lvs. that are intermediates to P. effusa var. effusa.
