Habitat: Rocky alpine tundra with white-clay frost heaves, calcareous soil, in open clearings between willows. Occasional in frost-scarred heaves.

Occurrence Remarks: Potentilla nivea L., det. Reidar Elven & David F. Murray, 21 Jan. 2008. Always trifoliate with snow-white tomentum, growth not bunched, but stems erect.
