Naturally scattered in shrubby deciduous woodland. Elev. 5400-5500 ft.

Single-trunked tall shrub or small tree, thornless, with white flowers (Scully 46 and 47). Bark light silvery gray with horizontal bands of lenticels. Branches zigzag. Fresh fruit are black, shiny, sour tasting, 8 to 8.5 mm diameter.
