On dryish cobbly soil of slightly raised spoil bank alongside a small dry ditch in an otherwise moist to wet meadow. With Potentilla norvegica and P. recta.

About 8 plants, up to 9 inches high and 17 inches across, stems spreading-ascendant. Flowers 9 mm across. Petals 4 mm long, about 1 to 1½ mm longer than the sepals.
