Open Pinus ponderosa-Pseudotsuga menziesii forest with occasional Populus tremuloides and scattered Ribes cereum, Symphoricarpos rotundifolia, Cercocarpus montanus, Holodiscus dumosus understory.

7.5' Harvard Lakes Quad. In dry gravelly soil, on gentle NE facing slope; flowers pale violet; plants mostly in fruit; common under trees and in openings. Precambrian granodiorite to quartz monzonite substrate.
