Shaded edge of wetland surrounding large pond. Black loam. Plant assocation: Populus tremuloides, Agropyron sp., Veratrum californicum, Smilacina stellata, Carex sp., Geranium richardsonii, Thalictrum sp.
Fruits pale green. Base of stem reddish purple. Roots dark brown and tuberous.
