Locality: United States, Colorado, Clear Creek, Guanella Pass, at trail head to Mount Bierstadt. A very popular hiking trail to Bierstadt crosses the lower part by raised wooden foot-paths. 11,600 ft alt.

Habitat: Willow fen in alpine-subalpine ecotone with large stands of Salix glauca at the head and enclosing numerous small fen ponds, ending in a low saddle with two large ponds filled at the inlet with Carex aquatilis. Characteristically at the bases of willows.
