Picea-Pinus contorta forest between Brainerd and Long Lakes, 10,000 ft. alt. On roadside cut-bank, north end of Brainerd Lake, seasonally wet by snow melt. Leaves of elongated stems clearly 5-ranked. Sterile. 1 believe this variety is not taxonomically significant. Fertile plants simply don't have the elongate sterile stems with the seriate characteristic.
