E-facing sandstone outcrops among pine trees and mountain mahogany on hogback backslope. At least 600 plants in several subpopulations.
Aristida dichotoma Michx. det. R. Scully, April, 2016; Original ID: Aristida basiramea Engelm. ex Vasey var. curtissii (A. Gray) Shinners. This entire population has lateral awns that are short and straight. Large, post-senescent individuals disperse like "tumbleweeds".
