Habitat:
Openings in Pinus ponderosa - Pseudotsuga menziesii forest in dry gravelly soil, on gentle NE facing slope; with common associates Chrysothamnus sp., Oreocarya thyrsiflora, Picradenia richardsonii, Koeleria macrantha. Clump forming; common locally & widespread. 7.5' USGS Harvard Lakes quad. Precambrian granodiorite to quartz monzonite substrate.
