In grassy flats in yellow pine forest.
Very heavy (dry) soil.
Plants fairly firmly attatched to the l-several small, fleshy, tuberous roots; stems glabrous or finely (crisp) retrorsely puberulent (a few glandular); sepals deep bluish-purple, widespread, narrow, the lowest the largest; spur straight to hooked, nealy 2x the length of the upper sepal-blade; lower petals large, cleft 1/4-1/2 length of the blade, very light tannish-purple or brown; upper petals tipperd with the same color, blue at the base, lightly purple-veined; follicles slightly divergent.
