Habitat: Scattered trees on exactly S-facing slope, 25-30° from horizontal. With Pinus flexilis, P. ponderosa, Pseudotsuga, Arctostaphylos, Symphoricarpos, Cercocarpus, Juniperus (the last ca. 1 m high), Populus tremuloides.
Reproductive Condition: Seed cone
Occurrence Remarks: Trees averaging 1 m high.
