Very steep slope, W exposure. Associated species: Pseudotsuga menziesii.

Habit: Trunk almost horizontal for 12 feet, then straight with a wide crown, branches scattered, upturned at ends. Hgt. 60 ft., DBH 34½ in., bark rugose, scaly, dark gray. Few cones from this year or last year, some old cones.
