Steep slope just above drainage with Calamagrostis canadensis, Erigeron subtrinervis, Astragalus tenellus, Virgulaster ascendens. Relatively common in damp meadows. Substrate boundary between Leadville Limestone and Minturn - Belden Formation.

Stems erect, single or few, unbranched. 7.5' Jones Hill quad. Flowers dark blue to purplish.
