In dry tundra & among boulders on gravelly bench at toe of Holocene & Pleistocene rock glaciers. Associates include Festuca thurberi, Pentaphylloides floribunda, Juniperus communis, Rydbergia brandegei, Potentilla concinna, Phlox condensata. Occasional. Lower member of Sangre de Cristo Form. (red arkose sandstone, conglomerate ss. siltstone & shale).
