Plants widely scattered over about 6 acres, locally common. Soil brown, sandy, interbedded with dark gray and thin buff-colored sandstone, resulting in slopes overlain with scattered rock fragments (Upper Cretaceous Shale). Associated with Sabina, Seriphidium tridentatum, Melilotus officinalis, Hymenopappus filifolius.
