Alpine fellfield summit & ridge near summit on steeply tipped slabs with ca. 50% veg. cover. Associates include Phlox condesta, Eritrichum aretioides, Potentilla concinna, Micranthes rhomboidea. Densely matted. Forming dense cushions. Relatively common & widespread in shallow gravelly soil. Lower member of Sangre de Cristo Form. (red arkose sandstone, conglomerate ss. siltstone & shale).
