Locally common. Above riverbank on meadow bench in duff of Pinus ponderosa; with scattered Populus tremuloides, Picradenia richardsonii, Heterotheca villosa, Gayophytum ramosissimum.

Precambrian granodiorite to quartz monzonite substrate. Flowers white.
